WORKING ON THE ROM TO REMOVE BUGS

To Port The Rom :

If you have the Stock ROM(The ROM which originally was made for your device) extract it in a folder called STOCK_ROM. If you do not have the stock ROM do not fear. Connect you device and open MTK droid Tools and Click on ADB TERMINAL and CMD will open. There type “adb devices” without “” after that type “adb pull /system system” without the “” some process will start wait 7-10 mins depends on the size of your system folder after it is completed close mtk droid tools and ADB TERMINAL now open the folder where you extracted MTK Droid Tools there will be a folder called System copy it and paste it in STOC_ROM.

Open both the PORT_ROM folder and STOCK_ROM folder
In Both the files Open system folder
Now Delete the files that i mention below from the PORT_ROM system folder
system/vendor
system/usr
system/lib/modules
system/lib/hw
system/lib/drm
system/lib/soundfx
system/lib/libaudio.primary.default.so
system/lib/libcamalgo.so
system/lib/libcameracustom.so
system/etc/firmware
system/etc/bluetooth
system/etc/security
system/etc/wifi
system/etc/vold.fstab
system/etc/vold.fstab.nand

Now go to STOCK_PORT and copy all the files mentioned above and paste them to the respected folders.
Now open system/etc/permissions on PORT_ROM and STOCK_ROM and copy all the files present in the permissions folder of STOCK_ROM and replace them with the files in permissions folder of PORT_ROM ***DO NOT DELETE THE FILES PRESENT IN PERMISSIONS FOLDER OF PORT_ROM JUST REPLACE THE FILES PRESENT IN PERMISSIONS FOLDER OF STOCK_ROM***

To get the boot.img of your device first go to CWM Recovery Mode and connect your device open MTK Droid Tools wait for your device to be detected. On MTK Droid Tools go to root,backup, recovery tab and press backup wait for about 10-15 minutes for your rom to be backed up after the process is complete open the folder where you extracted MTK Droid Tools go too backups there will be a folder with the name of your device open it and there will be a boot.img file in it copy it to the STOCK_ROM folder and copy the boot.img again and paste it in PORT_ROM

  • Open META-INF/com/google/android
  • Right Click On Updater Script And select Edit With Notpad++
  1. Download Notepad++ : Here

  • Edit it like this

  • Verify /system should be mounted in "/dev/block/mmcblk0pS" & /data should be mounted in "/dev/block/mmcblk0pD"

What is S and D?
S – System Mount Point
D – Data Mount Point
To know these mount point values
- Open MTK Droid Tool after connecting your phone to PC.
- Open Block Maps.
- Check these lines.

Change accordingly these lines in meta-inf/com/google/android/updater-script
format("ext4", "EMMC","/dev/block/mmcblk0p5", "0");
mount("ext4", "EMMC","/dev/block/mmcblk0p5", "/system");
mount("ext4", "EMMC","/dev/block/mmcblk0p7", "/data");

    ReplyDelete
  17. thank you but nope i don't think it will work the resolution of phone doesn't match with the tablet
    but if you have the time and your stock rom you can try get your stock rom build.prop check the line that says something like "density" or "dpi" check it copy the number and find the exact same line in the ColorOS build.prop and replace the "density" or "dpi" number iwth your stock "density" or "dpi" number. It is just a try though tell me if it works

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. dpi of a regular phone is almost at 240 and though i have a tablet so it has dpi 160. and i already changed it to 150 cuz i like small resolution.. so color os is of oppo then no oppo tab is out there in the market... i think color os doesn't support 160 or 170 dpi. if i forcly do it then the graphics will look bad i think!! but not sure...

      Delete
  18. try it if your willing to spend some time.
    first change the dpi then flash it if the display works out and you can see what is on the screen then install root browser and chane the dpi from the root explorer save the build.prop save it then reboot keep trying till you get the best resolution

  19. sure good luck hope it works it works please tell me i will add it to this post

    7. will take me atleast 2 days man its 500 mb

      Delete
    8. i figured out why it is not booting on your device.
      since the ROM is 500 mb your device does not support 500mb system partition no use to port it now will not work unless you increase your system partition

    9. already send link to your email, please check.

      the port rom is installed successfully, then after reboot stuck in boot logo.

  29. Hi Ajit,

    Would you be able to port roms running on Android version 4.2.1? Or is it possible to port 4.2.2 based roms to 4.2.1 based handsets if kernel is ported?

    If its not too much of a favor, would you be able to port this 4.2.2 based rom for my 4.2.1 phone? I don't really have a clear understanding on porting the kernel, the guide confuses me a bit, sorry.. Anyway i'd be willing to wait and test if you'd do it for this ColorOS.. I will then make it a base rom to port the MIUI V4.8.27.. thanks..

    1. 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 is only possible for a few selective devices and I have been able to do that in one of my website followers here.

      sorry but I currently do no have a MT6589 device to test it on and as you said you are willing to test but uploading a new ROM every time will be really hard.

      But i will soon make a video guide on porting kernel wait for it
