How To Root Your MediaTek Device

  • Step One
The download link is here for the rooting software : iROOT Download Here
  • Step Two
Download PDANet+(for drivers, skip if you have the drivers already installed) download from here : PDA NET+
  • Step Three
Connect your phone and turn on USB debugging(Settings->Developer Options->USB debugging, if you do not see developer options in Settings then Go to Settings->About Phone->Build Number, tap multiple times on Build Number until it says Congratulations, you are a developer, Go back to settings now you will see Developer Options and turn on USB debugging)
  • Step Four
Install Iroot and connect you phone with USB debugging ON. Let it install drivers for your phone. Press the root button and wait for it to root your device follow the onscreen instructions. Congrats you are now rooted. After reboot you will find Iroot app on your phone open it there might a popup to update the SU binary if there is please do so. (if you guys have any trouble please send me a screenshot i will be there to help anytime)
  • Step Five

    Doesn't work on my device

    My Phone Rio 2 Craze
    Kitkat 4.4.2
    MT6572
    Kernel version: 3.4.67
    Build number: alps.kk1.mp7.v1

    I've already tried several rooting apps (vroot, kingroot, kingo root, framaroot, srs root, elf root, one click root, super root) none of them worked. I'm still hoping my deivece will be rooted one day.

    hello Ajit,i need your help to root my device this is a lenovo S860C it is a mtk6592 (droid tools says is a mtk6572, maybe my lenovo is fake) It camed rooted but somthing is wrong, because the mtk droid tools says is not rooted and say error :file adbd, I try to reroot but iroot says: can not root permanently, other root apks can root it (frama root, vroot, towell, kinguser, etc) i used the 360 root, but it does not work too. the root checker apk , say the device is rooted, but i cant back up my rom and i cant change the recovery cwm., can you help me to root properly my device. thanks in advanced.     sorry i mean: others root apks can NOT root my device, some of them says : rooted incorrectly and other says file adbd is trunqued, in system/xbin/su there is not su apk and the files in there are encripted. I precieate your reply.

    My issue is really complicated and I believe its my phone manufacturer issue
    I've been trying to root my lollipop 5.1 phone for a while now and it looks impossible. I discovered that I could not flash anything into the phone via any means even sp flashtool cannot because the device has a locked bootloader. I attempted unlocking it using "fastboot oem unlock" and I got to the phase where I'm to continue with volume up or decline with volume down but none of those buttons are working in that mode. This is the same with stock recovery, those keys don't work either. Do you have any suggestions.

      mtk does not lock it's bootloader except for Android ONE.
      Try 360 root, iroot, kingoroot if you cannot then you have to download a recovery and scatter file for your device and flash using SP flashtool, SP flashtool works for all device, it is not workinf=g for you because you are not using it correctly.

      Steps to use SP flash tool :
      1. Load the scatter file
      2. Power off your device
      3. Press download in SP flash tool
      4. Connect your device via USB without turning it on
      5. the rest will be done by SP flash tool

    Any idea how to root doogee x5 mt6580? Is it the same steps? Im afraid of any bootloop becouse i dont have recovery installed on my phone its just 2 days u got it

      it is safe to root it, but if you are worried then first get familiar with your device for a few days and when you get the feeling it is fine to root then root it.
      You do everything at your own risk

    Hi, my device is mmx E313 running 5.1 Lollipop. I tried almost all ways i could find on net but couldnt root this device on Lollipop. installed pda, itdetected my phone but iroot gave it couldnt root.
    Can u help? My mobile's bootloader/preloader locked-how to unlock?

    A user had similiar question above (i just checked). Well I had tried all possible solutions u gave him.
    1. Tried kingoroot,kingroot,iroot,farmaroot etc.
    2. With SP flash tool, I can flash philz recovery correctly but phone doesnt boot in recovery, means, recovery is not getting installed.
    Seems mmx locked bootloader this time.

    Can u help??

      The above method is supported till 4.4 kitkat only. I will update soon with lollipop guide, since there are not many MTK devices preinstalled with lollipop and not many people have access to it.
      MMX does not lock bootloader you must check in google if it has locked the bootloader of your particular device (I have doubts), If it is locked you need to wait for a tool to come.
      Also did you flash the Recovery made for your device ?

    Thanx for prompt reply. On kitkat, all rooting tools worked but on Lollipop 5.1, none worked.Officially updated to 5.1
    Dont know its bootloader or something else from mmx preventing it to root.
    Cant root,so cant even port philz recovery. As this device is quite new, no custom recovery out yet for LP 5.1
    kernel 3.10.72

    On KK, i have suitable philz recovery but that recovery isnt working on Lp. if i flash that recovery from sp flash tool, still it dont get installed.

    If possible find me an solution, i will be ever oblized to you.

      you must wait for a month maybe till someone get's your device, if it is an update it will not lock the bootloader (as far as I know)

      have you tried the above procedure ? try to use kingroot, 360root, iROOT, autoroot
      there is no specific tool for MTK devices. But the reason I wrote the above tutorial which used iROOT was because iROOT has proved to root many MTK devices
